Description

The finite element analysis is a numerical method for solving problems in engineering and mathematical physics. The course deals with problems from the area which include structural analysis, heat transfer, fluid flow, mass transport, electromagnetic potential, topology optimization, modal analysis, transient analysis, etc. after completion of this course students can perform static structural analysis, modal analysis, and thermal analysis. Finite element analysis (FEA) is a computerized method for predicting how a product reacts to real-world forces, vibration, heat, fluid flow, and other physical effects. The finite element method formulation of a boundary value problem finally results in a system of algebraic equations. The method approximates the unknown function over the domain.[1] The simple equations that model these finite elements are then assembled into a larger system of equations that models the entire problem. The FEM then uses variational methods from the calculus of variations to approximate a solution by minimizing an associated error function.
